Gus has enjoyed a diverse and highly successful career in media for over 15 years. Originally an award-winning freelance writer, Gus branched into film and television in the late 1990’s adding directing, producing and presenting to his repetoire.
Gus’ experience encompasses everything from Oscar-shorlisted feature documentaries to a broad range of travel, adventure, science and reality-based television shows, many of which have sold all over the world. He has also worked on major branded content projects for global brands, commercials and many educational projects. His films have premiered at the prestigious festivals including Sundance, Los Angeles, Deauville and Torino Film Festivals and he has been nominated for an Emmy award for Best Documentary. As a presenter Gus has also hosted 4 popular documentary series for Television New Zealand (‘Wicked Weather’, ‘Human Potential’, ‘Brain Power’ and ‘Wild About NZ’).
His work has taken Gus from Antarctica to Alaska and many places in between and with his unique and broad range of production skills Gus is equally at home either behind or in front of the camera. With a Masters degree in Natural Resource Management and outdoor skills honed during 12 seasons as a heliski guide, Gus is ideally suited to projects with scientific, environmental or adventurous angle. When he’s not working Gus enjoys traveling, music, reading and an active lifestyle that includes skiing, surfing, stand up paddling, kitesurfing and mt biking. Gus is a lot of fun to work with – as long as he’s had his coffee!
